Preparing this a whole new pilgrimage for the 2027 celebration of St Paulinus preaching in Londesborough in 627. The route follows some of the ancient tracks on a 114 mile pilgrimage to Whalley and passing through some of the spiritual centres that Paulinus visited on his own journey. The walkers are checking out the route for the first time and discovering the magnificent countryside and checking for any problems that may arise.

The Nidderdale Way is a 53 mile circular walk It has a number of attractions, the natural features of Brimham Rocks, How Stean Gorge and, further up the dale, Goyden Pot hole. Add to this Gouthwaite Reservoir, York's Folly and Guisecliffe, the quiet villages of Ramsgill and Wath it soon becomes evident why Nidderdale is such a magnificent Dale.

This the first half of a Spring and Autumn , 'Three Away Days ' Exploration of Ribblesdale. This Spring visit included a circular countryside walk around the towns of Settle and Giggleswick. Also an exploration along the Pennine Bridleway to the Attermire Scar and Jubilee and Victoria and Horseshoe Caves. returning south of Settle i Mitchell Lane. On the third day exploring the waterfalls including Scaleber Force , Janet's Foss and Gordale Scar.

Many of these photographs are the original Jpgs however there are some others (those with dates on the actual photograph themselves) that have been digitalised from the old 45mm photographs in the library of the earlier ten years.

"The rock fortress of of Carl Wark stands proud, near Higger Tor, where you can see the destination of Minninglow hill, 25 miles south, resting place of prehistoric chieftains in their chambered cairns. This route takes in the old stones of Stanton Moor’s sacred groves and Arbor Low, the Neolithic ‘clock’. All of these major prehistoric sites have a direct sightline to Minninglow – place and orientate yourself in the land with this visual technology, as our ancestors must have also done."

The first half 21 miles was was accomplished in March 2020 a few days before " Covid Lockdown " October 2021 has been the safest opportunity to complete the last 25 miles of this pilgrimage.

Part One: Six York Minster walkers chose to fly to Pisa and join the route at Lucca. They then followed the path across Tuscany for a 140 km to Siena. The views were stunning,the walk a life-time of memories, Part two: Four of those Pilgrims continued on the Via Francigena in September of 2019. Their pilgrimage started from Viterbo to complete a grand total of 255km to the Sacristy in the Vatican. It was there they received their Testimonials and the Timbre of St Peter. Again part two is a large collection, the viewer is advised to look at the thumbnail pages and select those shots that are attracted to the eye or touch the RH side of the full screen to move on swiftly.

This is a pilgrimage route from Canterbury to Rome.In September 2018 Six York Minster walkers chose to fly to Pisa and join the route at Lucca. The Six Dales Trail From Wharfedale it passes over into Washburndale, then into Nidderdale, Colsterdale, Coverdale and finally Wensleydale. The trail runs the length of the Nidderdale, traversing some of the finest dales landscapes in Yorkshire. It starts from the ancient market town of Otley on the River Wharfe. It makes its way northwards, often along little-used field paths threading across sheep pastures to the ancient stone walls of Jervaulx Abbey then ending at Middleham 61km.

These are our Three pilgrimages to SdC twice on the Camino Frances 2013/15 and once on the Camino Ingles 2014. In 2013 it was from Leon then 2015 starting at the monastery in Cacabolas near Ponferrada in the Leon district of Spain. We covered some 250km / 2013 and 225km /2015 to reach Santiago de Compostella. The Ingles route in 2014 was tougher but shorter at 120km from Ferrol the acient seaport to SdC. These photographs show a taste of this beautiful walk rather than a commentary on the topography of each day's journey and also the atmosphere of our arrival in Santiago.

Pilgrimage is a personal journey: for some it involves a strenuous physical journey, while for others it is simply the act of travelling and arriving.This one was to celebrate the completion and restoration of the Great East Window. From Sunday 6th to Saturday 12th of May followed by a reception and celebratory Evensong at York Minster .A total distance of seventy one miles.

This summer challenge, was a two day mid week trip to Derwentwater with some fell walking for a group of about a dozen walkers. The photographs are meant to be a record of the routes and terrain they walked and hopefully will bring back happy memories for those who took part.

The Whitby Way passes over the North York Moors and through the Vale of York visiting many places of pilgrimage and taking in Sleights, Egton Kirkbymoorside, and Helmsley,Coxwold. Ancient paved ways as well as moorland tracks and field paths form the route. YM Walkers raised about 14,775 pounds towards the York Minster East Window Appeal. The stone pictured now tops the SE pinnacle of the East Window.

The Cleveland Way is 109 miles/176km long,it starts in the market town of Helmsley and goes north through spectacular open heather moorland, passing through many small villages until you reach Saltburn on the east coast. From here you return southerly along the coastline down through fishing villages and lively coastal towns to Filey

Tabular Hills Walk 48 miles 77 km This is a link through the Tabular Hills which connects the coast near Scalby and the Cleveland Way at the market town of Helmsley, completing the circuit of the North York Moors with a direct waymarked route.

The Dales Way is an 84 mile trail which leads from Ilkley in West Yorkshire to Bowness on Windermere in Cumbria by way of Wharfedale, Dentdale and South Lakeland, from beneath England's most famous moor to its largest lake. Ym Walkers did the walk the other way round from Windermere in Cumbria to Ilkley in West Yorkshire.

The Ebor Way is a walk, taking its name from Eboracum, Roman York. From Ilkley in Wharfedale through the Cow and Calf Rocks on the edge of Ilkley Moor to climb the gritstone outcrops of the Chevin and on to Harewood. The route turns to Whetherby and on to Tadcaster along the banks of the River Ouse to York.The city is crossed on the path along its medieval walls from where the River Foss is followed to Strensall. It then heads off for Sherrif Hutton Castle, and crosses undulating farmland to Terrington and Hovingham from there to the town of Helmsley.A distance of 122 km / 76 miles

A route across the North York Moors from Castleton, starting with a loop across the moors to the south of Castleton,via Rosedale Head and Blakey Ridge. It then passes through the remains of Esklets,then to Westerdale and returning to Castleton.Next on to Danby Lodge,climbing to Danby Beacon, going on to Leaholm and Glaisdale, Egton Bridge,Grosmont. The final section passes through Ruswarp to reach Whitby.

The Chalkland Way is a circular 70km walking route on the Yorkshire Wolds which is Britain's most northerly chalk outcrop. It links together the villages of Huggate Wetwang Fimber, Thixendale, Bugthorpe and Bishop Wilton with the town of Pocklington. We chose to start and end the walk in Pocklington.

Through wonderful moorland landscape, along with green,wooded valleys and cool rippling streams.We pass thirtyone traditional pubs, though we are unlikely to drink in every one of them!

This Collection was taken at the Pilgrimage Exhibition in the Treasury of York Minster 2017 most of the artefacts came from Four pilgrims. Sentamu Archbishop of York walking the Diocese of York, Lawrence who visited every Anglican Cathedral in the UK, and husband and wife,pilgrim b and perigrina b. The latter have completed three Pilgrimages to Santiago de Compostela and two in the Uk the Whitby Way and the St Cuthbert Way. I encourage you to try a life changing pilgrimage yourself. "All journeys have a secret destination of which the traveler is unaware".
